ABOUT
Since the release of our Netflix Original Documentary Seaspiracy in March 2021, we have grown into a effective and exciting charity called the SEASPIRACY FOUNDATION. Our focus is in being the VOICE FOR THE OCEAN through our educational and inspiring advocacy, campaigns, petitions, and online content.
Our Goals Are Simple:
1. Encourage a shift to eating a more plant-based diet where possible
2. Create & Enforce No-Take marine reserves protecting 30% of our oceans by 2030
3. Call for the end to destructive fishing subsidies.
Since 2021 the organisation focuses on amplifying these three goals through two main channels that work together in creating one ecosystem:
1. PUBLIC MEDIA: Social Media Content & 'The Seaspiracy Observer' Substack Newsletter
2. NETWORK: Collaborating with a global network of ocean groups and individuals to leverage effective tangible policy changes.
How it works:
• We have a network of ocean activists, effective NGO's, and ocean lovers from around the world that keep us in the loop with breaking news and urgent stories.
• Our team trawl the internet day and night in case something slips our network.
• We investigate a story and publish it across our channels.
• We share and amplify a campaign attached to the investigation.
With this strategy we have already magnified many campaigns around the world, flooded politicians with emails, 10x the number of signatures on petitions and proved that by fostering international support a campaign can make real change.
It was because of our model, that the Galapagos marine reserve stopped an attempt to introduce shark fishing, and instead, boosted the NO-TAKE zone to 30,000 square kilometres. Without Seaspiracy putting pressure on WWF Ecuador and The Ecuador Government, the Galapagos may not be in the state of protection that it has today. We have many stories just like these!
